An Orthodox wedding in Bloomington Indiana

Matthew & Coran's Eastern Orthodox wedding at All Saints Orthodox church in Bloomington Indiana was nothing short of perfect! They kept their wedding simple but beautiful! Coran wore her grandmother's wedding dress from 1972 complete with a full train and cathedral length veil. The weather had us all on edge as there was an 80% chance of rain. It poured during their entire 45-minute indoor ceremony but the weather was perfect for all the portrait photos outdoors before the ceremony and for their outdoor reception! It was so sweet watching their close-knit church come together to make it a perfect day for Matthew & Coran. All the ladies of the church decorated the tables for the reception and their wedding cake was made by the priest's son who is 15-years-old! Matthew has an identical twin who was his only groomsman and man was it hard to tell them apart, I kept calling them both by each other's names! Coran's two youngest sisters were the flower girls and another sister did her hair for the wedding.

Orthodox weddings hold an extra special place in my heart since I grew up Orthodox (& still am) and my husband and I were married in an Orthodox church as well. There is no need to decorate an Orthodox church for a wedding because the beauty of the church itself is more than enough. All Saints in Bloomington Indiana is still in the growing phases as they work on saving money to build their own large temple building. Their property is absolutely beautiful complete with many wooded, quiet walking trails with icon shrines along the paths. The property also holds a beautiful quarry pond, gazebo, and lots of natural landscaping. It was a joy to visit their lovely church and shoot this beautiful wedding!
